Happiness Hour: Creating Poetry from Other People's Words

April 17 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Registration required.
Whether you think of yourself as a poet or not, if you have a love of language and an appreciation of words, you can create poetry–no writing required!

If you’ve ever written down favorite quotations or made a collage of words you cut out of a magazine, you already understand the appeal of using someone else’s writing as a jumping off point for your own thoughts and creativity. This relaxed workshop will teach you how to add intention to the practice of gathering writing that speaks to you.

Celebrate National Poetry Month by learning two techniques for making poetry by starting with other people’s words and ending with a new combination of thoughts, ideas and feelings that are uniquely your own:

Blackout Poetry – Start with a page of someone else’s writing and eliminate the words you don’t need. What you’re left with may surprise you!
Floralegium – Gather a “collection of the flowers of literature” and place them in conversation together to find new meaning.
Happiness Hour is a time for grown-ups to explore their powers of creativity. Join us to try your hand at something new and leave a little happier than you arrived!
All supplies will be provided, though you are welcome to bring favorite quotations or other inspiration.

Space is limited and registration is required for this FREE program.
