An event every week that begins at 11:00am on Saturday, repeating until December 15, 2018

Chester River Wine & Cheese, 117 S Cross Street
Chestertown, MD 21620 United States

We love sharing our hand-selected wine collection. Join us in the shop every Saturday at the cheese case from 11-5 for a tasting of wines from across our collection. Sometimes it's a new vintage of an old favorite, sometimes it's something we think will pair exceptionally well with a new cheese, and sometimes it's just something that we found that we think is particularly interesting. All friends of legal sipping age are welcome to participate in this free tasting activity. Chester River Wine & Cheese Co. The High & Wides at the Garfield

December 15 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Garfield Center for the Arts, 210 High Street
Chestertown, MD 21620 United States

These guys are the apostles of hillbilly boogie” — The Washington Post “From fiery barn burners to heartbroken ballads, this talented string quartet is celebrating the region’s rich bluegrass history, carrying the torch for the Old-Line legends who came before.” — Baltimore Magazine The High & Wides, like the large-haul trains for which the band is named, project a big, driving sound—mountain musical traditions re-imagined for a new century. Formed on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in 2015, they write music about arson and hourly motels, dystopian love songs, and ballads of violent history. The High & Wides draw from their members’ extensive backgrounds in bluegrass and take the music to a place all their own, recalling an era when old-time, rockabilly, and proto-rock’n’roll coexisted in a murky soup of hillbilly string band music. Members include Marc Dykeman (guitar, vocals), Sam Guthridge (banjo, mandolin, vocals), Nate Grower (fiddle), and Mike Buccino (bass).
