BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS
FOR CHESTERTOWN
SEPTEMBER 12, 2017
The Board of Supervisors of Elections for Chestertown held a meeting in the Town Office beginning at 4:30 p.m. In attendance at the meeting were Board members Don Cantor, Loretta Lodge and Cheryl Hoopes, along with Jennifer Mulligan, Town Clerk. The purpose of the meeting was to certify the three (3) Petitions for Candidacy been received to date.
Ms. Mulligan stated there were three (3) Petitions for Candidacy to verify. Two (2) Petitions for Candidacy were for the First Ward and one (1) was for the Third Ward.
- First Ward:
- Owen Bailey – 39 signatures
- Bob Miller – 27 signatures
- Third Ward:
- Ellsworth Tolliver – 21 Signatures
Mr. Owen Russell Bailey filed a Petition for Candidacy on August 31, 2017. Mr. Bailey resides in the First Ward at 212 Richard Drive. His petition contained 44 signatures, 39 of which were signed by active voters in the Town of Chestertown. Five (5) signatures were not accepted. There were two (2) signors who did not use their signature, two (2) signors did not have addresses that matched the Registered Voters’ List and a signor was not registered to vote.
Mr. Bob Miller filed a Petition for Candidacy on September 1, 2017. Mr. Miller resides in the First Ward at 14 Cedar Chase Court. His petition contained 28 signatures, one (1) of which was not accepted. In this case, the Registered Voters’ List address has the signor’s address in Ward 2.
Ellsworth L. Tolliver filed his Petition for Candidacy on August 31, 2017. Mr. Tolliver resides in the Third Ward at 301 Lincoln Drive. His petition contained twenty-three (23) signatures. Two (2) signatures were dismissed from the count as those individuals were not registered to vote.
After the Board verified the signatures and information on each candidate, it was unanimously agreed that the Petitions for Candidacy were complete. All Financial Disclosure Forms and Statement of Organization for Campaign Finance Entities are on file.
The next meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Elections to consider petitions will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 5:00 p.m., the final deadline for submission.
