Chestertown Recreation Commission
Special Meeting
6:00 pm, Wednesday, November 23, 2022
Town Hall Council Chamber

This special meeting is to hear from the general public about the scope and objectives of a new playground being planned for Louisa Carpenter Park in the Washington Park neighborhood.

The Kent County School Districts has granted Chestertown several pieces of surplus playground condition in good shape from the former Worton Elementary School, which could be relocated to Carpenter Park.

In addition, state funds under the Local Parks and Playgrounds Infrastructure (LPPI) program have recently been approved to purchase new playground equipment, specifically earmarked for Carpenter Park.

The Recreation Commission is also considering other park infrastructure needs at Carpenter Park in its application for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. This application could include supplemental funds for the playground.

The public is welcome to attend this open meeting and comment on how to improve
Carpenter Park for the benefit of all of Chestertown’s residents.
