Environmental Committee, 2016|

In attendance:  Margo Bailey, Shane Brill, David Foster and Carl Gallegos.

Jon Hanley was on vacation so Margo Bailey chaired the meeting.

Shane Brill gave an overview of comments from the attendees of the filming of “Dirt”.  All comments were very positive.  An individual approached Shane and suggested that the children of Kent County would benefit from a strong environmental program in the schools.  Shane handed to the committee a proposed program suggestion with a list of organizations who might be willing to participate.  We will wait to proceed until Carl speaks to someone he knows who is an educational leader that might help us.

Margo will speak to the Council at their first meeting in April about our upcoming film and its relation to our food sources.  She is hoping the Council will allow a committee member to speak for nor more than 10 minutes at the first meeting of each months.

We badly need help setting up our staging area for Earth Day on Friday, April 22nd from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  She will ask Briggs to contact the environmental students for help.

Shane reminded the committee that CRA is holding a river friendly yard workshop on April 9th from 10-11:30 a.m. at Sumner Hall.  It will feature a lawn fertilizer workshop and native plant sale.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15.
