Come join us to learn how to make handmade tortillas entirely from scratch! We will begin by nixtamalizing (an ancient food processing technology) heirloom maize that we import from Oaxaca, Mexico to make nixtamal.
Then we will rinse the nixtamal, practice grinding it both by hand on a stone mortar and then on a Molino to make masa dough.
Finally, we will press the masa and cook the tortillas on a comal.
All participants will leave with a stack of tortillas and the knowledge to replicate the process in their home kitchens.
Taco night will never be the same!
