HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION

Alexa Silver, Chair, called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. In attendance were Commission members Ted Gallo, Barbara Jorgenson and Alice Ritchie, Jennifer Mulligan (Town Clerk) and guests.

Ms. Silver stated that the Chestertown Historic District Commission takes its authority from Chapter 93 of the Code of the Town of Chestertown and operates under the Historic District Design Guidelines that were adopted by the Mayor and Council of Chestertown on October 7, 2002 and revised March 7, 2012.

Ms. Silver asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the meetings of January 4, 2017. Ms. Ritchie moved to approve the minutes of January 4, 2016 as submitted, was seconded by Mr. Gallo and carried unanimously.

BP2017–07 TINY TOTS/PUCKETT, 114-A SOUTH CROSS STREET – SIGN

The first item on the agenda was for a hanging sign at 114-A South Cross Street for Tiny Tots Boutique. Ms. Silver read the application into the record.  Ms. Sharon Puckett, owner, was present for the application.  There being no questions, Ms. Ritchie moved to approve BP2017-07 for a double-sided galvanized metal sign, dimensions and colors as described in the drawings, to be hung on the existing metal bracket at 114-A South Cross Street as it is in accordance with Section IV.7 Signs of the Historic District Guidelines, was seconded by Ms. Jorgenson and carried unanimously.

BP2017-08 – P. TRAMS HOLLINGSWORTH, 216 N. KENT STREET – ROOF

The next application was for a roof replacement at 216 N. Kent Street. Ms. Silver read the application into the record. Ms. Jorgenson moved to approve BP2016-08 for the removal of the existing 3-tab shingle roofing and to replace the roof with architectural shingles at 216 N. Kent Street as it was in accordance with Historic District Design Guidelines Section III.7 Roofing, was seconded by Mr. Gallo and carried unanimously.

BP2017-09 – HERR/HOLLOMAN, 100 S. WATER STREET – FENCE AT REAR YARD LINE

The next application was for a fence at the rear of the property line at 100 S. Water Street. Ms. Silver read the application into the record.  Ms. Samantha Holloman, owner, was present for the application. Ms. Jorgenson moved to approve BP2017-09 for cedar fencing to match the neighboring property as outlined in the building permit submission as it was in keeping with Historic District Guidelines Section V.5 Fences, was seconded by Ms. Ritchie and carried unanimously.

Mr. de Mooy stated that he was applying for $1,000.00 CLG (Certified Local Government) grant for education purposes for the Historic District Commission.

There being no further business, Ms. Ritchie moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:15 p.m., was seconded by Ms. Jorgenson and carried unanimously.
