HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION

Alexa Silver, Chair, called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. In attendance were Commission members Susanne DeBerry Cole, Ted Gallo, Barbara Jorgenson, Nancy McGuire and Ed Minch, Kees de Mooy, Zoning Administrator, Jennifer Mulligan, Town Clerk and guests.
Ms. Silver stated that the Chestertown Historic District Commission takes its authority from Chapter 93 of the Code of the Town of Chestertown and operates under the Historic District Design Guidelines that were adopted by the Mayor and Council of Chestertown on October 7, 2002 and revised March 7, 2012.
Ms. Silver asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the meeting of May 4, 2016. Ms. McGuire moved to approve the minutes as submitted, was seconded by Ms. Cole and carried unanimously.
The first item on the agenda was BP2016-43 from David Hoatson at 324 Cannon Street for a sign. Mr. David Hoatson was present for the application. Ms. Silver read the application into the record. Mr. Hoatson stated that Chestertown Electric would have a small museum but he also performed restoration services and would have some items for sale. Ms. Jorgenson moved to approve application BP2016-43 as submitted for a sign at 324 Cannon Street reading “Chestertown Electric” as it meets the criteria of the Historic District Guidelines for signs, was seconded by Mr. Minch and carried unanimously.
The last item on the agenda was BP2016-46 from Rob Comfort/Triad Ventures at 201 High Street for window replication. Mr. Comfort stated that there were two (2) windows on the Queen Street side of the building that have been shuttered at the property for a long time that he would like to open and make functional. The windows would match those on the second floor and left side of the building. Mr. Comfort stated that he would custom fabricate the windows with wood. He said that the when the shutters are opened the jambs and casings are missing. The shutters shown in the photos will remain. Ms. McGuire moved to approve BP2016-46 for two (2) window replications at 201 High Street, with the understanding that the shutters in place will be reused as it conforms to the Historic District Guidelines for windows, was seconded by Ms. Cole and carried unanimously.
There being no further business, Ms. Cole moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:15 p.m., was seconded by Mr. Minch and carried unanimously.
