FEBRUARY 15, 2022

Mayor Foster called the Special Meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.  In attendance were Councilmembers Tim O’Brien (via Zoom), Tom Herz, Jose Medrano (via Zoom) and Meghan Efland, W. S. Ingersoll (Town Manager) and Jennifer Mulligan (Town Clerk).

Mayor Foster stated that the special meeting was held to call an Executive Session to interview candidates for the position of Town Attorney.

Mr. Herz moved to for an Executive Session under General Provisions Article §3-305(b)(1) To discuss the appointment, employment, assignment, promotion, discipline, demotion, compensation, removal, resignation, or performance evaluation of appointees, employees, or officials over whom this public body has jurisdiction; or any other personnel matter that affects one or more specific individuals.  The motion was seconded by Ms. Efland and carried unanimously. 

Executive session began at 5:32 p.m. and ended at 7:22 p.m.

The Mayor and Council resumed the Special Meeting at 7:24 p.m. with all members listed above in attendance.  Mayor Foster stated that the Council had the pleasure of interviewing two (2) attorneys who were the finalists for the position of Town Attorney.

Ms. Mulligan stated that the executive session was held under General Provisions Article §3-305(b)(1) with all members of the Council in attendance and two (2) candidates for the position of Town Attorney, who were interviewed at separate intervals.  No motions were made or passed while in Executive Session and session ended at 7:22 p.m.

Mayor Foster stated that both candidates were good attorneys and qualified for the position, noting that each attorney had praised the other in the interview.  He said that there was no wrong decision to make and that he appreciated both interviews.

Mr. Herz moved to appoint Chris Drummond as Town Attorney, was seconded by Mr. Medrano and carried unanimously.

Ms. Efland Moved to adjourn the Special Meeting at 7:32 p.m., was seconded by Mr. Herz and carried unanimously.
