Meeting Minutes

- PAC minutes of May 9, 2023 were approved.
- PAC Membership:
- Pam White has stepped down from the committee. This leaves the position of Vice Chair vacant. Ben solicited interest from members of the committee to fill this position.
- Ben discussed additional openings for new committee members.
- Public Relations:
- Ben conducted a planned downtown tour by publication writers sponsored by the Brampton Inn on May 25.
- Feedback was positive with a potential follow-up tour the end of the summer.
- Social Media:
- Ben will take over from Pam the setup of social media for the PAC.
- There was a discussion of what the PAC approach should be for social media.
- Walking Tour Map:
- In preparation for creating a Sculpture Walking Tour map, Hester and Dave have a meeting scheduled with Mainstreet (Nina Fleegle and Kathleen King – graphic designer) on how to modify the existing Mainstreet Map to include the locations of public sculptures.
- There followed a discussion about how to best use a common map for the purposes of different organizations.
- Publicity: Kate has prepared the first newsletter to be sent out with Mail Chimp to those that have signed up at events or on the website.
- Woicke Sculptures:
- Signage:
- It was agreed to print and place temporary outdoor signs for all the installed sculptures.
- Carla, Hester, and Dave will meet with Joe Karlic on next steps for the metal signs.
- Town Council: Ben is being scheduled to present to the Town Council the current sculpture status and the proposed locations for the new sculpture installations in 2023.
- Dance:
- The Dance sculpture was successfully installed Jun 8 in the front of Sumner Hall by the installation team (Bob Ortiz, Rob Glebe, and Mat Warrington).
- Ben has prepared a press release on the installation of the Dance sculpture.
- Puzzled (one of next 3 sculptures to be installed):
- General location determined (YMCA Building).
- Ben will schedule a meeting with Robby Gill to determine the exact location.
- Exact location needs to be marked.
- Bob and installation team will need to determine how to secure sculpture to base and if there is any additional maintenance required.
- Around Man (one of next 3 sculptures to be installed):
- General location determined (Remembrance Park).
- Exact location to be determined and marked.
- Bob and installation team need to determine how to secure sculpture and pedestal to base and if there is any additional maintenance required.
- Strength of Community (one of next 3 sculptures to be installed):
- General Location determined (Conley Park).
- Exact location to be determined and marked.
- Bob and installation team need to determine how to secure sculpture to base.
- Head:
- Ben will contact the Artist for guidance on fabrication of a pedestal.
- It was agreed on the general location in Fountain Park on the triangular clear space next to the diagonal sidewalk at the intersection of High St. and the “Nearly New” parking lot (next to Spring Street).
- Inchworm:
- Ben received no response from artist estate on painting sculpture blue.
- It was agreed to keep the current finish (with maintenance as needed).
- Ball and Red Arches and Taking the Hill: There was a discussion on when Adam Walls would be available to advise and assist with relocation, repairs, and placement.
- Signage:
- PAC Archive:
- Marianne reported that she and Kate have met with the Archival Records consultant (Lindsay Sheldon) who is surveying PAC requirements and will provide a report on her findings in mid July.
- Marianne reported that there is a location in town hall on the 3rd floor where PAC archives can be stored.
- PAC members are reminded to load items for archive on to the PAC Google Drive.
- Action Items were reviewed.
