We have been having a lot of issues with trash bags in the recycling. Some of the bags are all recyclable materials, but some have a lot of materials we can’t accept. With as many stops as the drivers make daily, it is too time consuming to open each bag to be sure it is recycling and not trash. As a result, we have put a new rule in place for all drivers to leave any bags that they can’t either see through to know it’s all recycling or clearly marked as Shredded paper or Clothing. Please refrain from putting recycling into plastic bags going forward. If you have overflow materials that don’t fit in our receptacles, please use any other bin or can of the same size for overflow. We thank you for your help in this matter. This help keep our routes more efficient and in turn keep the costs as low as possible for our customers.

So far recycling in many areas has been cautiously treated as a fad, or a minor convenience. But recycling is here to stay. The real fad is trash, which is diminishing significantly and will disappear in 30 years. Trash is nothing but a drag on our society; it has negative value and its facilities have to be safe guarded forever. Recycling avoids all that negativity. It still may have an overall cost in collection and processing; but in the long run, it avoids the perpetual storage, it saves resources, energy and pollution, and it creates up to ten times as many jobs. It is truly local self-reliant economic development activity and those wise communities that have enthusiastically embraced it are reaping the rewards of significantly less waste and many more jobs.
Infinity Recycling has nine full time employees and hires a sorting crew from the Benedictine School and another from the Kent Center. Our facility is now operating at approximately 10% of our capacity. Infinity Recycling’s recycling program is properly described as a Dual Stream System. We chose this system because it was economically viable for our rural area and it creates much less waste and actually recycles more material.
