If there are no current vacancies for a Commission/Committee that you are interested in, your information will be kept on file.

Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of the Town of Chestertown.
  • Must have some knowledge, training and/or interest in the subject matter.
  • Must be able to attend at least 80% of the meeting.

Board of Supervisors of Elections: (Section 22)

  • Members of the board of supervisors of elections shall be qualified voters of the town and shall not hold or be candidates for any elective office during their term of office

Ethics requirements: (§ 12-4)

  • § Members of the Commission shall not be elected officials, persons appointed to elective office, full-time appointed officials whether exempt or non-exempt, or Town employees, nor shall they be currently serving on any other town board or commission.

Historic District Commission requirements: (§ 93-5. (A)(1)&(2))  

  • Each member shall possess a demonstrated special interest, specific knowledge, or professional or academic training in such fields as history, architecture, architectural history, planning, archeology, anthropology, curation, conservation, landscape architecture, historic preservation, urban design, or related disciplines.
  • The requirement for Commission membership under the category of demonstrated special interest may be satisfied either by formal training in one or more of the fields listed above or two years professional experience in the above named fields.
  • The requirement for membership under the category of specific knowledge may be satisfied by formal post-secondary education, employment, or practical experience in one or more of the above-listed fields.
  • At least two members of the Commission shall have professional or academic training in one or more of the above-listed fields in accordance with the minimum professional requirements of the United States Department of the Interior for certifying local governments under 36 C.F.R. part 61.
