Meeting was called to order at 3:30pm.

Minutes from the March meeting were conditionally approved.

The subcommittee for the GIS mapping initiative reported that June 1 is the projected date for the prototype to be ready. Jeff will check in with the college via conference calls every two weeks. Test rounds will ensue after June 1. A volunteer cohort will be formed, given a work packet, and trained to report pertinent tree information to the committee.

Paul presented a revised tree removal application. Committee members are expected to send comments and changes to Paul.

Jennifer Vaccarro provided the committee with information concerning Phase I of the ShoreRivers planting initiative status. Landowner agreements, proposals, and contract bids are ongoing. Six residents have requested trees. Issues of maintenance, hiring a landscape architect, dovetailing the survey map with the GIS program, and need for a long term plan were

discussed.. The committee is requesting a list of the 30-40 tree removal/replacement locations planned for this spring season. No information regarding Phase II was provided

Chestertown has received Tree City status for 2024.

The committee was reminded of the April 20 Earth Day booth in Fountain Park’s need for assistance with public outreach and whip giveaways assistance.

The Main Street Downtown Master Plan stakeholders meeting on April 4 was unattended by Tree Committee members; more information will be forthcoming. Concern for using a potential “mainstreeting” mass-produced template as a model for Chestertown was expressed.

The committee reviewed the draft of the Tree Ordinance Section 156. Comments, correction, additions and revisions were provided to Paul S who is updating this material.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:43 pm.

Respectfully submitted,
