UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
JANUARY 20, 2015
Mayor Cerino called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Council members Linda Kuiper, Samuel T. Shoge and Mauritz Stetson, Robert Sipes, Utilities Manager, Jennifer Mulligan, Town Clerk, and guests.
Mayor Cerino asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Utilities Commission meeting minutes of December 15, 2014. Mr. Stetson moved to approve the minutes as presented, was seconded by Mr. Shoge and carried unanimously.
Mayor Cerino stated that cash on hand and in banks was $1,068,359.13 and there was $215,400.00 set aside in capital funds.
Mayor Cerino asked for a motion to pay the bills. Mr. Stetson moved to pay the bills as submitted, was seconded by Ms. Kuiper and carried unanimously.
Mr. Sipes stated that he applied for the FCC license for the Town.
Mr. Sipes stated that a new computer was purchased for the Waste Water Treatment Plant and was hoping to get a large screen monitor so people taking tours can see the microscopic examinations.
Mr. Sipes stated that there have been a few leaks in Town, mentioning a main at the Water Plant, Cedar Street and Roosevelt Drive as examples.
Mr. Sipes stated that pilot study was complete at the Hospital and a meeting was scheduled for Friday, January 23rd where he hoped to receive a copy of the results, along with the Hospital consultant’s interpretation of the results. He said that he would send the report to the geologist hired by the Town for guidance and to see if he concurred with the findings of the Hospital’s consultant.
Mr. Stetson stated that he received a call about a hole on Cedar Street on Monday, but it was fixed already. Mr. Sipes stated that he received a phone call from 911 to tell him about the hole and he came in to Town to fill it.
Mr. Sipes stated that he could not fix problems until he was aware they existed and urged residents to contact him at 410-708-4603 if they noticed any problems on the streets.
Ms. Kuiper stated that there was a large hole in Washington Square Shopping Center that had a tent around it to alert people not to drive over it. Mr. Sipes stated that it was likely a pothole due to freezing.
There being no further business, Mr. Stetson moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:37 p.m., was seconded by Ms. Kuiper and carried unanimously.
