UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
APRIL 6, 2020
Mayor Cerino called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Council members David Foster, Thomas Herz, Ellsworth Tolliver and Meghan Efland, Bob Sipes (Utilities Manager), Jennifer Mulligan (Town Clerk) and guests.
Mayor Cerino asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Utilities Commission meeting minutes of March 2, 2020. Ms. Efland moved to approve the minutes of March 2, 2020 as submitted, was seconded by Mr. Foster and carried unanimously.
Mayor Cerino stated that cash on hands for the Utilities Commission was $1,979,517.85 with $1,024,400.00 set aside for capital projects.
Mayor Cerino asked for a motion to pay the bills. Mr. Herz moved to pay bills as submitted, was seconded by Ms. Efland and carried unanimously.
Mr. Sipes stated that his staff has gone to split shifts, with the other half on standby for emergencies. He said that he plans to work that way until the virus is contained to limit any possible spread to employees. He said that the EPA released guidance for water and wastewater services and Chestertown is not at risk. The water is being tested twice daily.
Mr. Sipes stated that there was one item in the bills for $6,000.00, which was for annual chemical purchases. Mr. Sipes stated that he applied today for a $30,000.00 grant to the Bay Restoration Fund and that this annual grant covers the costs of chemicals.
There being no further questions or comments, Mr. Foster moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:39 p.m., was seconded by Mr. Herz and carried unanimously.
