UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING

DECEMBER 5, 2016

Mayor Cerino called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Council members Liz Gross, Linda Kuiper, Samuel T. Shoge and Mauritz Stetson, W. S. Ingersoll, Town Manager, Jennifer Mulligan, Town Clerk, and guests.

Mayor Cerino asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Utilities Commission meeting minutes of November 7, 2016. Mr. Stetson moved to approve the minutes as presented, was seconded by Ms. Gross and carried unanimously.

Mayor Cerino stated that operating funds on hand is $1,165,916.44 and an additional $589,000.00 was set aside in capital funds for a total of $1,754,916.44.

Mayor Cerino asked for a motion to pay the bills.  Mr. Stetson moved to pay the bills as submitted, was seconded by Ms. Gross and carried unanimously.

Mr. Sipes stated that hiring an engineering firm to put together the RFP for the mapping of the water and sewer lines looked like it would cost under $5,000.00, noting that layers could be added to the maps. He said he received one quote to date, but a company was coming tomorrow to give a presentation on a web-based mapping system that could also be printed when it was needed.  Training would be provided to those employees operating the system and included in the RFP.

Mr. Sipes stated that the lighting strike damage at Well #9 has been repaired and the bills were submitted to insurance. He said that the Town paid the deductible.

Mr. Sipes stated that both of the DO (dissolved oxygen) controllers at the Waste Water Treatment Plant were replaced. The controllers in place had cracked screens from sun damage and the new controllers had visors to try and prevent it from happening in the future.

Mr. Sipes stated that the chemscan unit at the Waste Water Treatment Plant was rebuilt within the past couple years, but the module tying it in to the PLC had gone bad. The new module, including programming, cost approximately $4,000.00.

Mr. Sipes stated that there have been a number of street cut repairs on Cannon Street and was hoping to complete the repairs by the first snowfall. Repairs would also take place on High Street.

Mr. Sipes stated that both soda ash pumps at the Waste Water Treatment Plant were failing and have been replaced.

There being no further business, Ms. Gross moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m. was seconded by Mr. Stetson and carried unanimously.
