UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
JANUARY 4, 2021
Mayor Cerino called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. In attendance were Council members David Foster, Thomas Herz, Ellsworth Tolliver and Meghan Efland, Bob Sipes (Utilities Manager), Bill Ingersoll (Town Manager), Kees de Mooy (Zoning Administrator), Jennifer Mulligan (Town Clerk) and guests.
Mayor Cerino asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Utilities Commission meeting minutes of December 7, 2020. Mr. Herz moved to approve the minutes of December 7, 2020 as submitted, was seconded by Mr. Foster and carried unanimously.
Mayor Cerino stated that cash on hands for the Utilities Commission were $2,432,612.07 with $1,209,200.00 set aside for capital projects.
Mayor Cerino asked for a motion to pay the bills. Ms. Efland moved to pay bills as submitted, was seconded by Rev. Tolliver and carried unanimously.
Mr. Sipes stated that there were a couple employees out on sick leave because they came into contact with someone with Covid-19. The employees will return upon a negative test result.
Mr. Sipes stated that the new backhoe arrived and the men enjoyed working with it. He said that it would be used on Kent Street between High Street and Calvert Street tomorrow to fix a collapsed line on the 100 block. Mr. Foster asked if this fix was a cost to the homeowner. Mr. Sipes stated that there is a $1,500.00 cap on costs to a homeowner when there is an issue with their water/sewer laterals in the road/right-of-way.
Mr. Sipes stated that a touchscreen went bad at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and he was working to have it replaced.
There being no further questions or comments, Mr. Foster moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 p.m., was seconded by Mr. Herz and carried unanimously.
