UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
NOVEMBER 4, 2019
Mayor Cerino called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Council members David Foster, Linda C. Kuiper and Mauritz Stetson, Bob Sipes (Utilities Manager), Jennifer Mulligan (Town Clerk) and guests.
Mayor Cerino asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Utilities Commission meeting minutes of October 7, 2019. Mr. Stetson moved to approve the minutes of October 7, 2019 as submitted, was seconded by Mr. Foster and carried unanimously.
Mayor Cerino stated that operating funds on hand is $2,230,814.43 with designated capital funds set aside for capital projects at $1,007,600.00.
Mayor Cerino asked for a motion to pay the bills. Mr. Stetson moved to pay bills as submitted, was seconded by Mr. Foster and carried unanimously.
Mr. Sipes stated that the UV unit at the Wastewater Treatment Plant required additional parts and therefore there were additional costs to the original estimate. He said that the labor was performed at no cost, but he did have to pay for the additional parts which were approximately $6,000.00. The work has been completed and the UV system is operating at 100%.
Mr. Sipes stated that the Council had approved purchase of a pedestal and dilute for the Radcliffe Pump Station and upon inspection the impeller was discovered to have holes around the top of it. The cost for the impeller was $8,100.00.
Mr. Sipes purchased a push camera for $8,200.00 which would allow the Utilities Department to camera pipes at a resident’s property if they were having an issue.
Mr. Sipes stated that he was still trying to locate the leak location on Queen Street, but he was aware of the problem and would fix it as soon as it was located. He said that this was not a hazardous condition and he was hoping for the leak to get worse so that the new paving was not destroyed.
Mr. Sipes stated that the water at the Dog Park was turned off for the winter.
There being no further questions or comments, Mr. Stetson moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:35 p.m., was seconded by Mr. Foster and carried unanimously.
