Mayor Cerino called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Council members David Foster, Linda C. Kuiper, Ellsworth Tolliver and Mauritz Stetson, Bob Sipes (Utilities Manager), Jennifer Mulligan (Town Clerk) and guests.
Mayor Cerino asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Utilities Commission meeting minutes of August 5, 2019. Mr. Stetson moved to approve the minutes of August 5, 2019 as submitted, was seconded by Rev. Tolliver and carried unanimously.
Mayor Cerino stated that operating funds on hand is $2,042,637.67 with designated capital funds set aside for capital projects at $961,200.00.
Mayor Cerino asked for a motion to pay the bills. Mr. Stetson moved to pay bills as submitted, was seconded by Rev. Tolliver and carried unanimously.
Mr. Sipes stated that there was an issue with the air compressors at the Radcliffe Pump Station. He said that he was trying to get the air compressors fixed, but if they had to be replaced the cost would be $8,000.00 as they were $4,000.00 per unit. He said that at least one air compressor has to be continually operating.
Mr. Sipes stated that parts for the UV Disinfection System discussed at the last meeting were received and Hayward was expected on Wednesday, September 4th to install them.
Mr. Sipes stated that a truck load of lime was received about 2 weeks ago and he would be ordering the sequestering agent in a couple of weeks (noting that both orders are received annually). He said that the sequestering agent binds with the lime to create a microfilm on the pipes to keep metals like lead and copper from getting into the water.
Mr. Sipes stated that if anyone in Town experiences brown water they should call Town Hall to report it immediately.
There being no further questions or comments, Mr. Stetson moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:37 p.m., was seconded by Rev. Tolliver and carried unanimously.
