CHESTERTOWN UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING

DECEMBER 4, 2023

 

Councilman O’Brien called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm. In attendance were Councilmembers Tom Herz, Jose Medrano and Meghan Efland, Bob Sipes (Utilities Manager), Larry DiRe (Town Manager), Lynda Thomas (Town Clerk) and guests.

Councilman O’Brien asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the Utilities Commission meeting of November 6, 2023.  Councilman Herz made a motion to approve the minutes of the Utilities Commission meeting of November 6, 2023, as presented. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Efland and passed unanimously.

Councilman O’Brien stated that the operating funds on hand were $2,825,984.35. He asked for a motion to pay the bills. Councilwoman Efland made a motion to pay the bills. The motion was seconded by Councilman Herz and passed unanimously.

Councilman O’Brien called on Mr. Sipes for his Utilities Commission report.

Mr. Sipes reported on the arrival of the parts to fix the influence screen at the wastewater treatment plant.

Mr. Sipes reported on the asphalt patching on High Street and other areas around town.

Mr. Sipes noted from the expenditures that the towable air compressor had been repaired.

Mr. Sipes reported that the wastewater treatment plant had received a permit violation for the seasonal average of total nitrogen. He noted that this was due to the PLC issues that have been on going. He noted that the Town was still under contract with Lywood and they would replace and program the PLC’s once parts are delivered.    

Mr. Sipes said that was all he had to report. Councilman O’Brien asked if there were any other questions for Mr. Sipes. There being no further business, Councilman Herz motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 p.m. The motion was seconded by Councilman Medrano and passed unanimously.
