UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
NOVEMBER 17, 2014

Mayor Cerino called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Council members Liz Gross, Linda Kuiper, Samuel T. Shoge and Mauritz Stetson, W. S. Ingersoll, Town Manager, Robert Sipes, Utilities Manager, Jennifer Mulligan, Town Clerk, and guests.

Mayor Cerino asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Utilities Commission meeting minutes of October 20, 2014. Mr. Stetson moved to approve the minutes as presented, was seconded by Ms. Gross and carried unanimously.

Mayor Cerino stated that cash on hand and in banks was $1,146,071.68 and there was $215,400.00 set aside in capital funds.

Mayor Cerino asked for a motion to pay the bills. Ms. Gross moved to pay the bills as submitted, was seconded by Mr. Stetson and carried unanimously.

Mr. Sipes stated that the system in place to monitor the nutrient removal deficiencies was repaired and fully functioning.

Mr. Sipes stated that Richard Drive at Kent Street was closed due to work that was taking place at the parsonage by the Utilities Department.

Mr. Sipes stated that the Town was accepting bids for two (2) generators on E-Maryland Marketplace. Bids close on December 12th.

Mr. Sipes stated that he has not received a report from the Hospital to date on the pilot study conducted in August 2014.

Mr. Sipes stated that there was a report of water theft from a fire hydrant behind Washington Square. He said that if any resident noticed someone hooked up to a fire hydrant to call him directly at 410-708-4603, or better yet, take a picture of the vehicle and tag and email it to him at bob.chestertown@verizon.net.

Mr. Sipes stated that unauthorized use of hydrants can cause damage to the mains and to the water quality when used improperly.

Mr. Sipes stated that tours of the Waste Water Treatment Plant were available and would be scheduled upon request.

There being no further business, Mr. Stetson moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:36 p.m., was seconded by Mr. Shoge and carried unanimously.
